Since 2012, The Broadmoor Food Pantry reduces hunger and promotes dignity, wellness and self-sufficiency for Orleans Parish residents.

How to become a Pantry Client?

Orleans Parish Residents MUST bring to the pantry during operating hours the following:

  • Proof of income (SNAP, SSI, TANF award letter, check stubs, bank statements)

  • Proof of Orleans Parish residence (utility bill, bank statements, mail)

VOLUNTEER

at The Broadmoor Food Pantry

Tuesdays

8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Wednesdays

11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are crucial to our operations and asked to sign up via Second Harvest Food Bank and complete their ortention.  We reserve the right to dismiss volunteers for unsatisfactory performance, inappropriate behavior, or because their services are no longer necessary.

Tasks:​

  • Assist with unloading food shipments

  • Assemble pantry boxes up to 25 lbs.,

  • Distribute boxes

  • Help set up/breakdown tables & chairs

  • End of shift cleaning

  • Check in Food Pantry Guests

Volunteers are encouraged to:

  • Wear closed toe shoes

  • Comfortable and casual clothing

  • Bring a water Bottle

  • Winter gloves for handling cold food items

Court Appointed Community Service

 

Registration for this program is handled at mandatory orientations at Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans held every Monday at 9:00AM.

 

For Community Service requests, contact Second Harvest Food Bank Feeding South Louisiana FIRST, please do NOT complete the Individual Volunteer application.

Prefer offsite volunteering?

The Broadmoor Food Pantry is in need of delivery drivers for our elderly and homebound Food Pantry clients. Delivery driving usually takes no more then 1 hour to complete.

All donations can be dropped off at The Broadmoor Food Pantry during pantry hours or at the front desk of the Broadmoor Arts & Wellness Center (3900 General Taylor St, New Orleans, LA, 70125)
