Wilson Charter School, 3617 General Pershing Street, and at the Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center (4300 South Broad Street). Programs for the week of

Monday, May 13

10:30 a.m.: Keller storytime for toddlers and babies;

4-6:30 p.m.: New Orleans String Project in choir and music room;

•5-6:30 p.m.: ESL in Keller classroom

•6-8 p.m.: Fix Mix! a monthly social gathering where together we repair small items that might otherwise go to the landfill. We mend clothing, rewire lamps, repair costume jewelry and more. Everyone is welcome. Participation is free of charge. If you need help fixing something, bring it along and you will find help from fellow fixers.  Questions? Contact: gretchen@nolatimebank.org

Tuesday, May 14

•4:30-6:30 p.m.: Homework Help at Keller;

•5-8 p.m.: Silence is Violence Music Clinic  in music and choir rooms;

•6-7 p.m.: Zumba! in Keller meeting room; dance with us and party yourself into shape!  Starting  May 7th, the community center will offer a free class in Zumba Fitness every Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Zumba is a Latin dance-based, easy-to-learn cardio workout appropriate for most fitness levels.  Taught by Noel Lozes, MD;

•6:30-7:30 p.m.: Italian conversation (intermediate) in Keller sunroom;

•6:30-9 p.m.: PlayNOLA Open Gym Basketball in Wilson gym; and

•7-8 p.m.: BIA Crime Watch meeting at Keller


Wednesday, May 15

4-6:30 p.m.: New Orleans String Project in choir and music room;

•5-7 p.m.: Adult Craft Class in Keller sunroom;

•5-8:15 p.m.: NOBA lessons at Wilson;

•6-8:30 p.m.: Broadmoor Basketball Association practice in gym; and

•6-7 p.m.: Spanish Conversation Circle at Keller. Learn conversational Spanish as a beginner, or refresh your skills in a relaxed, supportive environment;


Thursday, May 16

4:30-6:30 p.m.: Homework Help at Keller;

•5-6:30 p.m.: English as a Second Language tutoring in Keller classroom, the ability to speak Spanish is not required and tutors are needed, so please contact Maggie Tidwell (broadmoorcoordinator@gmail.com) if you are interested;

•5:30-7:30 p.m.: “Cooking for Seniors,” Register for this exciting cooking class designed specifically for those over 50! Lead by Second Harvester teachers, senior citizens will learn to cook fast, healthy meals that won't break your budget. A  shopping field trip is included. Groceries and other freebies are presented at the completion of the course. Pre-registration required--please call 504-821-6633 to register.

•7-8 p.m.: Zumba! in cafeteria


Friday, May 17

•6-7:30 p.m.: “Senior Movie Night” at with popcorn ;

Saturday, May 18

•10 a.m.-1:45 p.m.: NOBA lessons in cafeteria;

•10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Broadmoor Basketball Association practice in gym;

•10 a.m.-noon: Citizenship class at Keller;

•10 a.m.-noon: Adult computer class in Keller library computer lab;

•11-noon: Books that Sing, Books that Swing in the Keller children’s area;

•11 a.m.-noon: Senior yoga in Keller meeting room;

• 2-3 p.m.: Ebook fair at Keller; and

•6:30-8:30 p.m.: Artmoor!  The Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center proudly welcomes, “My Neighborhood is Changing,” a photo exhibit by children in the Lower 9th Ward chronicling the unique character and beauty of this neighborhood in transition.  Come meet the artists at the opening with wine, cheese and live music!  For more info, please click here.
