PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
The BIA exists to help every resident in Broadmoor thrive. We provide affordable counseling and social services for all income levels, and no one is denied services based on inability to pay. In addition to our wellness programs, we offer continuing education workshops for social workers and licensed therapists.
We offer counseling to individuals and couples on a sliding-fee scale. Fees range between $10-$80 per 50-minute session and are dependent on your income and the level of your counselor's training. Therapy fees for couples with a Licensed Social Worker/Counselor range between $40-$120. For more information about our fee structure and considerations for what to pay, click here.

We provide help in addressing situations that cause emotional stress such as anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, divorce, job stress, social and emotional difficulties related to disability and illness, life transitions, and loss of a loved one or pet. We are not a crisis agency and we do not provide crisis services.

Located inside the Broadmoor Community Church at 2021 South Dupre Street.
Residents interested in receiving food assistance can bring proof of income (SNAP, SSI, TANF award letter, check stubs, bank statements) and proof of residence (utility bill, bank statements, mail) to the pantry during operating hours to apply for assistance.

Services are free to the community through the Broadmoor Improvement Association (BIA). Drop in to the Broadmoor Food Pantry on Wednesdays from 1-3pm to meet with an MSW intern.

SOCIAL SERVICES
CONTINUING EDUCATION
The Broadmoor Improvement Association is pleased to be an approved provider of continuing education units (CEUs) for Social Workers in the State of Louisiana. Most workshops are also approved for LPC CEUs.

All workshops are three hours in length unless otherwise specified.

COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Broadmoor Improvement Association relies on many dedicated organizations to expand the reach of our services and better meet the needs of the community. In addition to our tenants and members at the Arts & Wellness Center, we leverage partnerships with churches, schools, and other nonprofits to meet Broadmoorians where they're at. Take a look at a few of our key partners.
Broadmoor Community Church partners with the BIA to offer space to operate the Broadmoor Food Pantry twice weekly. Volunteers help distribute more than 2 tons of food per month. Broadmoor Community Church is also a partner in the management of our community garden, which includes four raised bed gardens in the open space beside the church. Volunteers help grow fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruit that is made available to guests at the food pantry. BCC is also one of the first Community Lighthouses in partnership with Together New Orleans.
The Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center is one of 13 New Orleans Public Library branches. Keller is operated through a partnership between the Broadmoor Improvement Association and the City of New Orleans. Together, the BIA and Keller offer free weekly programs available to the public, including notary services, youth classes, and SNAP assistance. Keller also collaborates with the BIA to host major neighborhood events like EATmoor!
Kinship Senior Center partners with the BIA to provide support for the elders in our community by offering rich programming and transportation to those 60+ in the Broadmoor neighborhood. Kinship's mission is to provide seniors in New Orleans with a safe place to thrive by staying active, learning new skills and forging meaningful social connections. ​
Kinship remains dedicated to honoring the seniors in our community by upholding these pillars: enrichment, engagement, expertise, and exploration.
The LSU School of Social Work partners with the BIA to place social work students in their MSW internship program. The LSU School of Social Work (SSW) aspires to be a leading school of social work, a vibrant center for intellectual development, a leader in promoting and supporting diverse communities, and an advocate for an integrated and inclusive model of social work, all within a learning environment that supports best educational practices and the LSU national flagship agenda.
The School of Social Work at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) partners with the BIA to place social work students in the BIA internship program. SUNO is dedicated to providing a quality educational experience focused on developing skills that value the importance of human relationships and social and economic justice. BIA’s internship program offers students practical experiences that help improve the quality of life for Broadmoor residents and address issues such as poverty, mental illness, food insecurity, and unemployment.
More than 20 graduate students from the Tulane School of Social Work have completed internships through the BIA. Ranked on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Graduate Programs for Social Work, Tulane’s School of Social Work prepares students for rewarding roles in human services with both MSW and DSW degree programs available. Interns complete a one-year commitment with the BIA and gain real-world experiences through work at the Broadmoor Food Pantry, and by offering sliding-scale counseling services to residents at the Arts & Wellness Center.
